This episode we hear from Kevin Loomis of the San Diego Mountain Bike Association. He's the President of the 2nd largest city chapter of IMBA and has some concerns about the IMBA Board itself. We also hear from Grant Lamont of Think Bike Whistler, if you're in the Sea-to-Sky corridor and you want to test out new bikes, then this is a great 4 days at the beginning of June

Thank you for putting this together Brent!

I wanted to comment on the Bob Winston's response. Everything Bob said in the email sounds good, but it is the reason the IMBA board needs to change.

1. Everyone Pays their Own Way! While this sounds great, think of the logistics. I'm a small business owner and financially could not serve on the IMBA board with this constraint. They meet four times a year, throughout the country. As a husband and father of a 10 and 12 year old, my wife would kill me if I not only took time off but spent several thousand dollars to fly to really cool destinations for a meeting. Realize, most Chapter Presidents and Board members are like me. We have family, value each dollar and don't have corporate funding available.
2. Only the well-funded need to apply! Think of it. Who is best able to afford to sit on the board - wealthy people AND INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES! Does this sound like your club???? Does this type of person speak for you? David Zimberoff is the global marketing director for SRAM (who pushes eBikes at EVERY meeting!), Chris Conroy is the president and general manager of Yeti Cycles, Mike Cachat is the owner and CEO of Jenson USA and Taldi Walter is REI's community affairs program manager (just imagine what would happen to REI if IMBA pushed for Bikes in Wilderness!) Bottom line - industry is very concerned about IMBA's direction and stance. Who is being represented - industry or riders?
3. Bob said a lot about nothing. IMBA is deeply struggling yet still has not listed a plan to move forward. This is where true leadership is required, not politically correct emails.

Please post your comments here AND ALSO email those comments to the IMBA Board!!! They can be reached directly at board@imba.com.

Only the community's voice will force change! The board does NOT change unless our voices become to loud to ignore.

President - San Diego Mountain Biking Association
